Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest
Contestants used only toilet paper, glue, and/or tape to create gowns and headpieces with ruffles, faux embroidery, pleats and even lace effects.
Katrina Chalifoux of Rockford, Illinois spent two weeks creating a sheath dress with a raised flower pattern from molded toilet paper. She took home a $1,000 gift card for her creation.

World's Most Expensive Car
Vintage Ferrari fetches $11 million at auction!
A 1961 Ferrari 250 GT short-wheelbase California got hammered down at auction for €7,040,000. Converted to U.S. dollars, that's about $10,976,000 making it the most valuable vintage car ever sold under the hammer, organizers said on Monday.
The rare black convertible was one of 33 cars and scores of Ferrari memorabilia sold at auction on Sunday in the luxury sports carmaker's hometown of Maranello in northern Italy.
The 7 million euro price paid by British radio and television host Chris Evans eclipsed previous records for cars sold under auction, organizers RM Auctions said.
"It's a very rare Ferrari, one of just 56 built," said spokesman Terrence Lobzun. "It's a very desirable car, probably one of the most desirable Ferraris ever built as far as style and design are concerned."

Weight Loss Sunglasses
This swanky invention is designed to give food a blue tinge and therefore it'll look disgusting.
Certain colours tend to stimulate appetite, while others tend to deter it. Apparently, blue is considered to be the least appetizing color of the spectrum, with red and yellow being at the opposite end as a hunger stimulant.

How it works:
It stimulates the physiological circulation of the human that it is appetite the effect of red approaches the brain among non consciousness, would like to eat generally, that it increases. It is said that the appetite it calms the excitation of the brain above that would like to eat blue color conversely, is held down. Those where the color physiology is applied are these sunglasses. “You drink continuously” if and so on poor even with the person where “it moves”, this because just you apply with easily is, it is easy to continue without being chased in stress, probably will be.

LG Boast of Display Technology Again!
For Samsung Electronics and LG Display, selling their latest panel technologies to potential clients is their top concern amid the globally booming flat screen industry. They aim to steal the limelight at a leading North American show for electronic-displays in Los Angeles by introducing their newest products, which the companies claim are the world’s first, even though experts doubt their marketability.
On Sunday, Samsung Electronics showcased an ultra-high definition 82-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) panel for 120Hz television sets at the Society for Information Display (SID) 2008 International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition in the U.S. city. The show will run from May 18 to 23.
The world’s largest LCD panel supplier said the latest product offers much clearer viewing as its 120Hz technology, which displays an image 120 times per second, increases the frame time by twice that of the existing technology. Meanwhile, Samsung said the panel uses a light-emitting diode (LED) backlight, with the increasing popularity of LED-backed flat screens triggering soaring demand worldwide.
Industry experts said that so far backlight module makers around the world have yet to effectively improve defect rates in making light-guide plates and assembling LED backlight modules. As a result, the price of LED backlight modules remains far higher than that of the current cold cathode fluorescent lamp model.

How Nokia Users Drive Innovation
Through online aps such as Sports Tracker and Nokia Beta Lab, the Finnish handset giant gathers customers' ideas from around the world—virtually free.
Nokia researchers didn't quite know what to expect when, in March, 2007, they posted a mobile phone application called Sports Tracker on a company Web site that is open to the public. The program, still a work in progress, was designed to let runners and cyclists take advantage of the global positioning capability included in some Nokia models. Users can record workout data such as speed and distance, and can plot routes.
The response to Sports Tracker was overwhelming. Eventually more than 1 million people downloaded the program and used it for sports the developers never dreamed of, such as paragliding, hot-air ballooning, and motorcycle riding. More importantly, the users avidly provided criticism that Nokia (NOK) then used to make improvements. Based on reader feedback, for example, developers added the capability to create online groups where users can share favorite routes and even photos they took along the way. "People were misusing the application in creative ways," says Jussi Kaasinen, a member of the team at Nokia Research Center in Helsinki that developed Sports Tracker.
You've heard of user-generated content? Sports Tracker is an example of how Nokia has begun experimenting with user-generated innovation. That's the premise behind Nokia Beta Labs, a Web site where the Finnish handset maker lets users test the latest smartphone software. Instead of people recording silly Web cam videos for YouTube or inventing frivolous advocacy groups on Facebook, they can help make the mobile Internet more useful.

The World's First Billion-Dollar Home
While visiting New York in 2005, Nita Ambani was in the spa at the Mandarin Oriental New York, overlooking Central Park. The contemporary Asian interiors struck her just so, and prompted her to inquire about the designer.
Nita Ambani was no ordinary tourist. She is married to Mukesh Ambani, head of Mumbai, India-based petrochemical giant Reliance Industries, and the fifth richest man in the world.Forbes estimated Ambani's net worth at $43 billion in March. Reliance Industries was founded by Mukesh's father, Dhirubhai Ambani, in 1966, and is India's most valuable firm by market capitalization. The couple, who have three children, currently live in a 22-story Mumbai tower that the family has spent years remodeling to meet its needs.
Like many families with the means to do so, the Ambanis wanted to build a custom home. They consulted with architecture firms Perkins + Will and Hirsch Bedner Associates, the designers behind the Mandarin Oriental, based in Dallas and Los Angeles, respectively. Plans were then drawn up for what will be the world's largest and most expensive home: a 27-story skyscraper in downtown Mumbai with a cost nearing $2 billion, says Thomas Johnson, director of marketing at Hirsch Bedner Associates. The architects and designers are creating as they go, altering floor plans, design elements and concepts as the building is constructed.

Heineken World Bottle: Beer to Bricks
Manufacturing Beer bottles to convert to brick structures for later use.
“Upcycling is a 21st century term, coined by Cradle to Cradle authors William McDonough and Michael Braungart, but the idea of turning waste into useful products came to life brilliantly in 1963 with the Heineken WOBO (world bottle). Envisioned by beer brewer Alfred Heineken and designed by Dutch architect John Habraken, the “brick that holds beer” was ahead of its ecodesign time, letting beer lovers and builders alike drink and design all in one sitting.
Mr. Heineken’s idea came after a visit to the Caribbean where he saw two problems: beaches littered with bottles and a lack of affordable building materials. The WOBO became his vision to solve both the recycling and housing challenges that he had witnessed on the islands.”

How retailers trick You in buying crap you don't need!
Consumers shopping habits have been put under a microscope and analyzed by the retail industry in order to maximize sales. Shoppers have been as thoroughly studied as lab rats and the research has resulted in scientifically proven approaches to influence shopper’s emotions, to heighten their insecurities and to trick them in to buying things they don’t need or want.
My, that’s a big basket you’ve got there!!! Stores have hundreds of enormous shopping carts parked conveniently at the entrance. Once you have selected something, you’re more likely to “find” additional items - after all, that empty space in the cart is just begging to be filled, you must have something else you can buy, right?
Tip: If you can skip the cart and make do with a basket, you’ll reduce the temptation to over buy. If you can get by without the basket, even better!MMM...That's a good tip...
Mirror, mirror on the wall…Vanity mirrors slow you down and keep you looking, but there is more than meets the eye. Most people can’t help but check themselves out, and who’s 100% satisfied with what they see? Making you more self-conscious helps you see new items as a solution. You are more likely to buy, when you’ve walked out of the house in something less flattering than what’s on the rack in front of you.
Tip: Wear something that looks good on you while you shop, and avoid mirrors unless you’re already trying something on. Not only will you feel more confident and buy less, you’ll generally get better service too.
Buy in bulk and save?Misleading bulk sales are another retail favorite. There’s no difference between $5 each and the four for $20 on sale, except that you just might end up with three more than you wanted. Also, products sold in different volumes and weights often have prices that are chosen to confuse you. Shoppers tend to look at $10.49 for 48 ounces and think it’s the equivalent of $4.99 for 24 ounces even though it’s not -you’re paying more for less! Most grocery stores and pharmacies are required to provide per unit pricing signage, but these often don’t reflect sale prices.
Even when it is actually cheaper per unit to buy in bulk, it doesn’t mean you should! Do you really need a gallon of mayonnaise, or 1000 clothes hangers?
Tip: Compare unit prices, use that calculator on your cell phone, and don’t buy more than you can use, no matter the “savings”.

Cauliflower cheese will never be the same again
The orange, purple and green cauliflowers that scientists claim could be healthier for you!
Scientists have developed amazing variants of vegetable where the traditional white florets have been changed to a garish orange, purple and green.
The "rainbow cauliflowers" are said to taste the same as the normal varieties, but add a splash of colour to the dinner table.
Some scientists have even claimed that they are healthier for you.
Andrew Coker, a spokesman for the plant company Syngenta - which is developing the plants in Europe - stressed that the colourful cauliflowers were not the result of genetic engineering, but came after decades of traditional selective breeding.

Think Twice before giving chocolates for Valentine's!
Lab Tests Reveal More Than Just Sweets In Candy!
Investigation Finds Nasty Surprises In Boxed Chocolates. As Valentine's Day nears, many will stroll through groceries, retail stores or specialty shops and pick up some sweet treats for their sweetie.
But those looking to woo their beloved with chocolate may want to think twice.
A few weeks ago, CBS station KTVT-TV bought chocolates made all over the world. They went to the grocery store, to a Godiva store in a mall, and to a department store to conduct an investigation.
The sealed boxes were taken immediately to a local lab, where KTVT-TV paid to have the chocolates analyzed for foreign objects one would not expect to find in chocolate.
What the lab found was surprising. A microbiologist strained the chocolate, heated it and let it dry.Under a microscope, everything in the sweets came into focus.
"We don't live in a sterile environment, and the good Lord gave us a stomach that will take care of any of these little bitty things," said Karen Deiss, senior microbiologist with Armstrong Forensic Labs. The lab found a cat hair in the $44 box of Godiva chocolates. The findings also revealed small insect parts and clothing fibers.
Godiva said these are "common items that could have easily entered the product after it left our control."
Russell Stover and Whitman's candies share the same owner - and the same problems: insect parts and human hair were found in both boxes of chocolates.
The Food & Drug Administration's limit for insect fragments is less than 90 per sample. Rodent hair is limited to less than three per sample.
No rodent hair was found in any of the samples, but the "gross out" factor bothered some people.
As one manufacturer said, "It's really impossible to exclude hair, bugs and fibers from chocolate or any other natural food product."

High heels 'improve sex life'
Wearing higher heels may improve women's sex life, according to an Italian doctor. Dr Maria Cerruto says 2ins high heels can help improve pelvic floor muscles, reports the BBC.
Dr Cerruto, a urologist and self-professed lover of high heels, set out to prove they were not as bad for women's health as some suggest. Her study of 66 women under 50 found those who held their foot at a 15 degree angle to the ground - the equivalent of a two inch heel - had as good posture as those who wore flat shoes.
And, crucially, they showed less electrical activity in their pelvic muscles suggesting they were at an optimum position, which could improve their strength and ability to contract.
Pelvic floor muscles assist sexual performance and satisfaction, and also provide vital support to the pelvic organs, which include the bladder, bowels and uterus.
But they often weaken after pregnancy and childbirth, and as women get older.
Dr Cerruto said: "Women often have difficulty in carrying out the right exercises for the pelvic zone and wearing heels could be the solution.

The lip gloss that could help you lose weight
As every dieter knows, a moment on the lips could spell a lifetime on the hips.
But now the adage has been turned on its head, with the creation of a lip gloss that claims to help women lose weight. Sold under the slogan "Always on the lips. Never on the hips", Fuze Slenderize gloss is said to be oozing with ingredients that curb the appetite. f that weren't enough, the "guilt-free lip gloss" also claims to speed up the metabolism, while boosting energy levels.
One of the key ingredients is SuperCitrimax, a plant extract said to keep hunger pangs at bay and stop the body turning carbohydrates into fat.
Other contents include chromium, a mineral said to boost metabolism, and L-carnitine, an energy-giving amino acid.
Similar ingredients are found in Fuze diet drinks, a range of low-calorie fruit juices reputed to be a favourite of actresses Katie Holmes and Jessica Simpson. Costing £9.50 a tube, the brightly-coloured gloss is made by Californian make-up company Too Faced and is available in three flavours.

In the paper chase, he's coming up short
The way Leo Hill figures it, every roll of toilet paper he's used since mid-2006 has shorted him at least one sitting.
That's a lot of tissue. Hill figured he had the time, since there wasn't much else to do but read or stare at the shower curtain. So he counted every sheet of toilet paper as he used it.
It wasn't for any other reason, he said, than to know if the number of sheets noted on the package matched what was on the roll. Each day he'd count the number of sheets he needed — he limited the experiment to his Lakewood home's basement bathroom because his wife won't go there — then added it to his previous day's tally.
By his count, the first roll was short by 15 sheets.
"You couldn't prove anything from one roll," Hill admits, "so I counted them all."
At the end of the month, Hill said his nine-roll average was 156.75 sheets for the rolls of Angel Soft that promised 198 on the package.
Hill didn't want to make a stink about it, but thought someone should know.

No time for cooking? no problem!
Your car exhaust is a barbeque now.. Stop the car when you are hungry, install the device to the exhaust and back to drive,, You'll have a hamburger in no time. This way you don't need fuel for cooking while commuting and a large amount of energy would be saved.
Before you start complaining about the taste of carbon monoxide and the cancer risks of automotive air pollution, look closely at the design. The exhaust merely heats the upper element of the device, cooking your burger much like a Foreman Grill.
Of course, unlike the Foreman, there's nowhere for the grease to go, no easy way to check on the status of your food, and the Exhaust Burger only cooks one patty at a time. Oh, and the EB is still only a concept that was entered into Designboom's competition.

Now Ferrari plans a SUV!
our eyes are not deceiving you – this SUV has a prancing horse on the bonnet. In a move set to cause a stir across the world, Ferrari is considering putting its famous name to a rival for the Porsche Cayenne.
Called project F151, the prospect of a Ferrari SUV will cause uproar with car enthusiasts across the globe. However, the firm’s bosses have watched the success of Porsche’s 4x4 with interest, and want to increase profits.
With a practical interior, estate car luggage capacity and rough-road ability, the model would open the Ferrari range up to a huge new customer base. Still in its early stages, the project is yet to be given the green light by bosses nervous of tarnishing Ferrari’s legendary brand image. Our shots shows what the classy off-roader could look like in showroom-ready trim. At around five metres long and two metres wide, the jacked-up Ferrari would offer luxurious transport for five passengers to travel in style.
While designers face the challenge of making the Ferrari beautiful, engineers have to make it live up to the firm’s dynamic reputation. Powerplants are yet to be finalised, but it’s thought that the Ferrari will be offered with a choice of V8 and V12 engines from the firm’s existing stable.
Buyers will be asked to pay well in excess of £100,000. If the F151 gets the go-ahead, the Ferrari will be revealed in concept form in 2010 before going on sale a year later.

Tata Unveils World's Cheapest Car at India Expo
India's Tata Motors has unveiled what is being billed as the world's cheapest car — the $2,500 Nano.
At the 9th Auto Expo in New Delhi on Thursday, Company Chairman Ratan N. Tata said the four-person sedan, also called the People's Car, is an all-weather alternative to the motor scooter. He said he found inspiration for the vehicle on the streets.
The Nano has rear-wheel drive and a two-cylinder, 35-horsepower engine, and can reach speeds of 60 mph.
Tata said the company was able to keep the cost of the car low by putting the plant in an area that receives tax concessions and having the suppliers set up plants nearby to cut transportation costs.
